Does it have anything to do with homemade volcanoes or moon phases? Nope. Not that kind of Science.
It's the kind of science synonymous with research. Years and years of research that have all yielded the same results...the same conclusions.
So, the verdict is in-Reading is a (painstakingly) learned skill that requires years of the right instruction and ample practice...it's not hardwired into our brain. We can't just immerse kiddos in books like we do oral language and expect miracles. To create readers, we must understand the science to ensure our instructional decisions make sense.
